Screed 30: TEKO ON COBRA AND ZEBRA
From one point of view Cinque was only a token Black in an all-white enterprise. To disguise its minimal Negritude, the SLA had earlier adopted a play-school tactic of "let's pretend". Following this tactic, several of the former tape-makers had tried to disguise their middle-class collegiate white voices under heavy Black American accents. Thus spoke Teko. (Bill Harris) Teko had by now been thoroughly identified. Besides being an imitation poor Black, he was a prosperous white, a BA and MA of Indiana University, and an ex-teacher. He and his wife, also prosperous, college-trained, and a teacher. were the only married couple in the SLA. In a dialect much more Negroid than Cinque's own, Teko continued Cinque's line about race war and genocide, and contemplated what he called "the rising tide of Black revolution". Like Cinque too, he demanded for Cobra the media attention which was shifting towards Zebra.
Greetings to the people. This is Teko speaking.
As it has been stated many times by the Black community, the Zebra operation is a planned enemy offensive against the people to create a race war. Race war is a fascist tactic to divide the people. The pigs know that there is no [other? ] way to control or eliminate the people's army.
The people's army in the United States of America means a guerrilla force of Black, brown, red, yellow, and white people united by their fighting spirit and a common determination to kill the pig. The Symbionese Liberation Army is a people's army and the only way the fascists can slow us down is to try to scare the people into fighting among themselves.
The pigs and the fascist media have by their slick trickery attempted to link the SLA with the so-called Zebra killings. They have even gone so far as to release a composite drawing and description of the killer which has a resemblance to General Field Marshal Cinque. [A blurred phrase.) The next lie that we expect t hear is that Cinque is the Zebra killer, and this will be even pig justification to continue the harassment and disarming of people.
The pigs hope to manipulate the fear and racism of the broad mass of unconscious whites in order to eliminate black revolutionaries. By black revolutionaries we mean Black people it. general. Pigs like Alioto wish to maneuver these white people into allowing the fascist army to sweep the ghettos and machine-gun and imprison the people. But anyone who by their racism and government-manipulated fear supports genocide makes the glarinerror of forging his or her own slave chains. And if white people it. fascist America don't think they are enslaved they only prove their own foolishness.
The enemy has kept us divided for hundreds of years and for at least that long the pig has made uncountable attempts at eliminating the rising tide of Black revolution. But Black people, by their strength and determination, have survived this fascist onslaught. Black people, more revolutionary than ever before, are armed and angry.
And now the SLA is proving that Black people's ain't alone, that the thing the pigs hate and fear the most is happening, is growing The people's army [is] of irate niggers of all races, including whites, not talkers but fighters. The enemy recognizes that the people are on the brink of revolution, and the enemy will do anything at any cost to prevent this.
We ask the people, especially whites, to carefully analyze Operation Zebra. The Black [tape and faked accent very blurred) with the times, and to understand who in reality sits in the saddle and holds the reins.
