02-09-02 Copies of "Every Secret Thing" are geting scarce and more costly at half.com ($7 or more last time I checked but the movie "Patty Hearst" is still cheap). With the upcoming SLA trials demand is likely to increase for this book. It's best to get a copy now. Try shopping around at sites such as ebay.com and abebooks.com. Try different search strategies since sellers, especially at abebooks.com don't describe uniformly. As an example, on rare book, at abebooks.com I found a $10 copy using the keyword "symbionese" When I tried a search of the first co-author listed I found one copy for $2 and two copies for $5. Note also, that abebooks.com will cost three to five dollars more for shipping and secure credit card handling fee compared to half.com. At all sites I have found condition descriptions accurate but I go for cheap and readable, not collectable. Anyway, shop around and good luck finding material.
I have to try to find a copy of the old page from nbci.com but for now the first place to look for source material is http://half.com . Comparison shop at http://abebooks.com but watch country of origin, exchange rates and shipping costs since some sellers are overseas. Abebooks will process the order for $1.10 if your worried about Credit Card security. http://amazom.com and http://bn.com used are usually more expensive but worth a check for pricey or hard to find items. Keep try and comparison price. In the last month I have purchased copies of three books that were always over $35 a year ago for under $5 each. Collectable condition books cost more but I find that a yellowed and dog eared copy is just as easy to read and scan so long as the binding is intact.
